Martin VISSER

Holland (1922-2009)

Martin Visser conceives furniture since his early age, he studied architectural design. His first furniture is bought by the Bijenkorfs shop which employs him as a salesman then as a head of buyings. In 1954 he becomes a designer and made a collection for the editor ‘t Spectrum in Bergeik. In the beginning of the 1960s, he becomes well known thanks to his sofa-bed BR 02.7. In 1989 he is awarded the Théo Limperg price for his whole career. Martin Visser is also known as an important art collector in Holland, he was named head curator of the Boijmans museum. His collection is nowadays curated in the Kröller-Müller museum.
