Edward WORMLEY

Edward Wormley registered for interior design correspondence courses then, in 1926, started goin to the Art Institute of Chicago. He then got a position at the Marshall Field’s studio of design of Chicago. In 1931, Wormley entered the Dunbar Furniture Company and improved the whole production with new pieces in order to form a complete line. He opened his own office in New York in 1945 while remaining a consultant at Dunbar. He retired in 1968 and the Dunbar company is bought off. Wormley managed to incorporate the best elements of classical design and create modern, simple and elegant furniture. He is now part of the greatest American designers.
