Bertha Schaefer is born in Yazoo, Mississippi. Graduated from the Parson School of Design, she left New York for spending some months in Paris. When she came back in 1924, she opens her own interior design office and after some time her own Contemporary Art gallery in 1944. From 1950 to 1961, Bertha Schaefer also designs furniture for ‘Singer and Sons Furniture company’ manufacturer.
